Farmers, their wellbeing, and their economic self-sufficiency plays a significant role in Marico’s overall purpose of creating shared value. Our initiatives in this direction promote both sustainable agricultural practices as well improves annual productivity and means of income-generation for the small-scale farmers.

The Parachute Kalpavriksha program demonstrates the efforts and impact that we intend to create towards sustainable agriculture. By deploying over 100 dedicated agronomists who capacitate farmers on sustainable and scientifically proven agricultural techniques, the program boosts climatic resilience of coconut cultivation in the country. This in turn, attributes towards annual improvement in productivity patterns from these coconut farms which then increases the income of small-scale farmers, who otherwise depend on myth-based farming techniques or do not have access to modernized agricultural equipment/knowhow. Agribusiness centres and Knowledge Centres have been set up under this program to support and capacitate coconut farmers with scientifically advanced farming techniques at economically viable rates, thereby generating higher productivity, nutrient enhancement, pest management and efficient water usage.

Under our initiative ‘Jalashay’, we facilitate construction of farm ponds to improve resource optimization and thereby reducing the water input required. This empowers the farmer to aim for higher profitability from the yields while taking a sustainable approach towards farming practices.
